Tevaberiel and Trick: Frenzy

[Candidate] [Rider] [Frenzy]

Word of the Frenzy at the Healing Den spread quickly through the Otherlands and by listening to the wind, Tevaberiel and trick learned of the event long before notice had been officially sent. If they had not been as astute, the new most likely would not have reached the pair, deep in their forest, in time.

Trick was young - she had many years left to live, if not an eternity. Neither dragon nor rider were certain if the tiny green had adopted her chosen rider's immortality, but even in the life-line of a mortal dragon, she was hardly more than a baby.

Nevertheless, she was a baby who wished to share the joys of a mating.

Tevaberiel was greatly proud of his bond when she announced she would be joining the Flight Frenzy, though he had some doubts about himself. He did not enjoy crowds, and such an event would surely bring a great deal of people and dragons to this Den.

I will look after you, Trick whispered as she felt her rider's doubts. There is nothing to be afraid of.

The Faerie smiled his crooked smile. "Thank you, dark beauty. I will accompany you, of course." Being that he had left the Den before Trick was even mature, he had skipped all the education on mating flights. He was somewhat surprised that he could find no memory of ever having even watched a draconic mating.

When they arrived at the alotted time and place, Tevaberiel and trick stayed to the outer edges of the settlement as much as possible. It was as he had guessed. The atmosphere was happy and joyful, with people laughing and drinking their fermented beverages and talking before the Frenzy commenced. This he could probably have handled - after all, he enjoyed a good party as much as the next trouble-maker - but the people! The solid throngs of humans... and otherwise. The little Faerie was rather pleased to catch glimpses of folk who were decidedly not human. That stayed him a little, for now.

The flight is ready to begin! Trick announced suddenly. I must join the others! I must take blood!

Without waiting for her rider to reply, the little green took to the skies, almost immediately lost in the sea of flapping wings and great, colourful bodies. She'd had her own doubts about finding a mate her size, but the appearance of a few smaller dragons heartened her.

Tevaberiel took a deep breath and headed towards the crowds, which were now entering a series of tents with symbols that he did no recognise on them. Peering into each tent, he saw one held only males, one only females, and a few held various mixtures of both.

He hesitated, unsure how to proceed. He assumed that the tents were something of sexual herding grounds. The first, he guessed, was provided for those men who enjoyed sexual encounters with other men. The same for the females. Why there were a number of mixed tents he couldn't quite reason. Perhaps one was for those who strictly sought the opposite gender, and the others for men and women who would take either sex?

Taking another breath and preparing himself to be lost in a crowd of legs, Tevaberiel entered a randomly-selected tent.

Almost instantly, he knew he'd made the right decision. He felt a surge of something incredible within his body and recognised the feeling had come through Trick. She had been caught! The feeling was unmistakable. And Teva found that he enjoyed it thoroughly. By glancing into the green's thoughts, he learned that the lucky male was violet Adherath, from right there at the Healing Den. He was somewhat relieved to learn that Adherath was not from the same clutch as Trick, but from the very first Flight Frenzy.

He suddenly had an insurmountable urge to mate, and looked around in the hopes that a female Faerie would be present. Not in this tent. No time to go searching the others. He needed someone now...

And there she was. She was not human, but had the proportions of a human youth. She looked too young to be a dragonrider - but then, how old did he look? Her skin was a stunning shade of green and seemed to be frozen in her development. She had an air about her - loneliness, perhaps? Tevaberiel could understand that, and it made her even more appealing. Her name, he found out, was Taiji. She was from the World of Zekira.

The Dark Faerie met the yellow eyes of Taiji Takin and, for just that day, they would become lost in each other.
