Perla and Razeth

"Oh c'mon, it's such a nice day!" Perla cried. "We simply can't stay in all day!"

Razeth stuck her nose in the air and closed her eyes haughtily. Why should I?

The girl hid a grin. Razeth was just about the queenliest green she'd ever known, and loved demonstrating her 'power' whenever she possibly could. Perla knew that the little green actually wanted to go bathe with the other weyrlings at the Weyrlake, but it would take some convincing before she'd give in. "The sun will do you good, my love. Your hide is looking a little pale," she lied.

Razeth looked up sharply, eyes whirling yellow. It is?

Perla nodded sagely. "I'm afraid so. A few candlemarks' sun should fix it up, though. Just think how lovely and warm you'll be once we get there."

Well... Maybe you're right. After all, we've got a class with the senior weyrlings this afternoon if I remember correctly. And a girl must look her best.

"You're absolutely right. I'm glad you thought of this. You're so smart," Perla gushed.

Razeth beamed. Well you're not so bad yourself.

Laughing fondly, the young rider gave the green-who-thinks-she's-a-gold an affectionate scratch and allowed herself to be led out towards the beach.
