Kynan and Tomar
[Statistics] [Bonder] [Calf] [Adult]

It was hard to believe that the little brindle calf had grown to such proportions. Tomar, all grown up, was stunning. His hide had matured into an oily blue-black colour, his wings and fins a paler indigo-blue. He was fast, sturdy, sleek and beautifully proportioned. And that was to the casual observer. To Kynan, Tomar was the world.
"We don't have drills today... Is that right?" the sea dragon enquired of his rider that morning.
Kynan nodded. "Yup, no drills." He smiled at his bond. "Wanna go exploring?"
Tomar raised one smooth eye-ridge. "Exploring where?"
"I dunno. Let's just find somewhere new to swim."
The black chuckled, making ripples in the water where they swam near the shore. "Alright, rider dearest. Let's find somewhere new."
'Somewhere new' turned out to be further away than they'd anticipated. To their surprise, Kynan and Tomar found they were relatively familiar with a large area surrounding Agendor Cove. And as they lazily swam around the tiny cove they'd discovered, Kynan remembered something.
"Hey, Tomar," he called.
The black changed the angle of his tail slightly and slowed as he reached his rider, looking up with an inquisitive twinkle in his eye.
"Remember how I used to talk about my home? I mean, my other home - back at Soul's Crest?"
Tomar bobbed his head. "I do. You don't seem to talk about it as much any more."
"I guess we've been busy, what with graduating and all," the boy said thoughtfully. "I've been thinking about it again."
"Why?"
Kynan smiled to himself at the simple, direct question. "Because I miss it. I've only been to Mara Cove once or twice, but I was born on Soul's Crest - in the Caer. It seems..." he trailed off, unsure how to continue his thoughts.
"You want to go home," Tomar stated simply with a draconic shrug. "It makes sense."
"It does?" he asked, looking up.
Tomar chuckled softly. "Yes, my heart, it does." He paused, then, "Tomorrow we will put in for a transfer."
Kynan looked at his lifemate and sighed happily. "Thank you, Tomar. For everything."
The sea dragon returned the blissful sigh. "I'd do it a thousand times over."
"Me too."
